Shian-Huey Chiang joined Paratus Jan 2024 and serves as VP, Discovery Research-Cardiometabolism. Shian-Huey is a strong drug discovery leader with over 14 years of experience in pharmaceutical (GSK and Pfizer) and biotech (Ananke) companies prior to this position. Shian-Huey has broad expertise across multiple disease areas including metabolic diseases, muscular dystrophies, immunology, neurodegenerative diseases, fibrosis and cancer and her teams have developed multiple modalities (small molecules, biologics and RNA therapeutics) during her career. Shian-Huey has a long experience leading external collaborations with academic institutions and biotech companies on target ID, validation and platform development. She led cross-functional matrix teams to progress drug discovery from preclinical to IND and patent filing and successfully transitioned to Phase 1 clinical trial at Pfizer.
Shian-Hey received her PhD degree in Cell and Molecular Biology at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor focusing on type II Diabetes. She then spent another 9 years on the cross-talk of diabetes, obesity and chronic inflammation areas as a postdoc fellow and faculty and published first author papers in Nature, Cell, Nature Medicine, JBC, and EMBO J.
